Jennifer Aydin Fires Back at Ozempic Weight-Loss Claims

Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Jennifer Aydin is putting her foot down when it comes to accusations that she’s used Ozempic to aid her weight loss.

The reality star stopped by Watch What Happens Live on July 14, where she clapped back at any critics, bluntly telling Andy Cohen, “I am not on Ozempic!”

“So for anybody who is yelling at me saying my head is too big for my body, it’s just my hair,” she continued. “And that I have to stop taking Ozempic because their family members can’t get it, I am not on Ozempic,” per E! News

The injectable drug was designed for patients with type 2 diabetes as it helps them lower their blood sugar by stimulating the pancreas to produce more insulin, according to UC Davis Health. However, it, along with other drugs with the active ingredient semaglutide, has another desirable side effect: weight loss.

As such, many folks have had it prescribed to help them in their weight loss journeys, leading to criticism and drug shortages.

But while Aydin says she isn’t contributing to the Ozempic shortage, she did go on to admit that she is using another brand name.

“I’m on Mounjaro, okay,” she acquiesced. “Mounjaro 2.5. I’m sorry! I love being this weight, I love it! I have so much energy if you couldn’t tell.”

At least one of her co-stars would disagree, though, as Melissa Gorga has previously come out against the medication, claiming to be the “only one on the cast that does not take Ozempic.”

“I work out really, really hard,” she added, softening the blow with, “To each their own for everything, but no, I don’t [take Ozempic].”

Margaret Josephs and Dolores Catania were also present for the discussion, which took place on a May episode of their reality series, and went on to point out that even on a weight loss medication it’s still important to continue working out and exercising to prevent “muscles [from] melt[ing].”

Unfortunately, late last year their fellow housewife Jennifer Fessler was hospitalized for semaglutide-related complications, revealing on her podcast that she suffered an impacted bowel that was presumed to be related to the medication.

“I’m not afraid of Ozempic and I will tell you I have had an experience that was not good, and I’m pretty positive it was about the semaglutide. I had to go to the hospital for an impacted bowel,” she shared, adding, “I’m still not nervous about it.”

She admitted that she wasn’t eating the best at the time, “losing weight on pizza and bagels and ice cream” and “drinking no water, eating no vegetables.”
