LeBron James Rocks Nike LeBron 21 “DT Max ’96” Sneakers Inspired by Deion Sanders’ Signature Shoes for 20th NBA All-Star Game

In his record-breaking 20th NBA All-Star Game appearance, LeBron James made a statement on the court by sporting a pair of his Nike LeBron 21 sneakers. These special-edition sneakers were inspired by one of Deion Sanders’ iconic ’90s signature shoes. The design of the LeBron 21 pays homage to the Air DT Max ’96, also known as the Air Diamond Turf 3, featuring the distinctive claw mark stripes. The sneakers boast a sleek white and black color scheme with gold accents, aligning perfectly with the colors of the Colorado Buffalos, for whom Sanders serves as the head football coach.

Earlier this month, Nike reintroduced Sanders’ third signature sneaker, including his logo, after a long hiatus during which he was not affiliated with the brand. The reissued sneakers have not featured the claw marks until now. Sanders, who had previously signed with Under Armour, once declared that he would never return to Nike, making his collaboration with the brand in 2024 all the more significant.

Nike has also unveiled a trio of contemporary basketball sneakers inspired by retro models for this year’s NBA All-Star Game. These include the GT Jump 2, modeled after the Total Foamposite Max; the GT Cut 3, inspired by the Zoom Flight 5; and the GT Hustle 2, paying tribute to the Air More Uptempo.

LeBron James’ All-Star appearance marks his 21st consecutive selection, setting new records in both categories. Previously, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the record for 19 appearances.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether the Nike LeBron 21 “DT Max ’96” sneakers will be released to the public or remain exclusive to players. This article will be updated with further information as it becomes available, and Footwear News has reached out to Nike for comment.
