Discover the Story Behind Kyle and Mauricio’s Matching Tattoos Despite Their Separation

Kyle Richards’ tattoos were a hot topic on Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

In the video above, which is a clip from the premiere, Kyle and her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, discussed her body ink. Moreover, on Episode 2, during a 15th birthday party held for the couple’s daughter, Portia Umansky, the topic of tattoos came up again at the dinner table. Kyle leaned over to Mauricio to whisper, “Do your parents know I have a tattoo, and you have one too?”

After Mauricio said his parents weren’t aware of his ink, he later got upset when Kyle jokingly revealed the truth to Mauricio’s mother, Dr. Estella Sneider.

Though Mauricio wasn’t exactly happy about sharing the details of his tattoos in Episode 2, it was later revealed the tattoo he got matched one of Kyle’s: the number 18.

After Kyle debuted her two wrist tattoos in an August 2022 Instagram post (she has a heart on other wrist), her daughter Alexia Umansky explained the following month why the number is so meaningful to the family.

“All my sisters have 18 in their birthday,” Alexia wrote in an Instagram Story. “That being said, it’s our family’s lucky number.” Another reason the digits are important to their family: “In the Jewish religion, ‘18’ can be translated into ‘life’/‘chai.’ A lot of times, people gift money or donate in multiples of 18 because it’s believed to be good luck.”

So, do Kyle and Mauricio still have the same tattoo today amid their separation? Look closely and you can see Mauricio’s tattoo in the first photo of his Instagram post here (it’s on the inside of his upper left arm):

That Instagram series of photos was shared on June 15, so it’s probably safe to assume Mauricio still has the tattoo on his arm.

Kyle Richards debuts a cowboy hat tattoo

In addition to her “18” tattoo, Kyle debuted more ink in March.

In a March 2 Instagram Story, Kyle re-posted a video shared by tattoo artist Amanda Merkatz. “Cowboy Hat for [Kyle],” read the caption of the original video.

One thing Bravoholics know about Kyle: she has a notable obsession with hats.

On Season 12, Episode 18 of RHOBH, Kyle explained, “I always grew up loving hats. My mom loved hats, and I started collecting them — I don’t even remember how long ago. It’d be hard to pick a favorite. They’re like my children.”
