Gizelle Bryant Says Her Kids Were “Shocked” by Ex-Husband Jamal’s “Outrageous” Wedding Outfit

The Season 9 reunion of The Real Housewives of Potomac continues, and so does the shade.

In Part 2 of the three-part reunion, host Andy Cohen asked the GnA co-founder about her relationship with ex-husband Jamal Bryant, with whom she shares three daughters: 20-year-old Grace and 18-year-old twins Angel and Adore Bryant. Gizelle said that things were “good” between them, less than two months after the pastor and his other half, Dr. Karri Turner, said “I do” in a luxurious celebration.

Andy then took questions from social media, with one commenter asking why Jamal and the new Mrs. Bryant “dressed up like characters in Wicked for their special day, referring to the 2024 musical film.

It seems several on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, had made the comparison.

Did Jamal Bryant dress as Wicked for his wedding?

But, contrary to some of the shady comments out there (which certainly had Gizelle laughing), the newlyweds didn’t actually have a Wicked-themed wedding.  However, Jamal did wear a dark green, bejeweled suit, while his new wife was decked out in light pink frills and dripping with diamonds, as seen in an Instagram photo posted on their wedding day. The colors matched Wicked’s green-skinned Elphaba (played by Cynthia Erivo) and the sparkly pink Glinda wears (played by Ariana Grande).

Ashley Darby chimed in, calling Jamal “Elphaba.”

“He was Elphaba?!” asked Andy in astonishment. “Is Jamal a big Wicked fan?”

“No,” Gizelle answered. “He doesn’t even know what Wicked is.”

Andy said, “Well, he does now!”

Gizelle agreed, further elaborating on the big day — which she did not attend.

“Um, I don’t know what would possess them to wear that as they got married,” said Gizelle. “It seemed like a joke, but they weren’t playing.”

Andy then wondered what the girls — who had attended the wedding — thought of the questionable choice.

“They were horrified,” Gizelle confirmed.

At the reunion, Gizelle said her three daughters didn’t know their new stepmother, doubling down on claims she previously made throughout RHOP Season 9 and on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She once said Grace, Angel, and Adore were “a little confused” by the engagement because they didn’t even know their father was dating.

“They still don’t know her,” Gizelle told Andy. “It would be great if there was a relationship, but there just hasn’t been one with my kids.”

Gizelle and Jamal married in 2002 and separated in 2009. They gave the relationship another go in 2019 but ultimately split up for good in 2021.

As for Gizelle’s daughters, all three are now out of the home. Grace continues studying public relations at Florida A&M University. Angel is majoring in health science at The Spelman College in Atlanta, while Adore majors in international relations at Virginia’s Hampton University.

“It’s like Gizelle full throttle,” Gizelle told Andy about life without the kids around. “When I dropped off the twins and finally got home, I was legit sad for, like, 28 hours. And then, all of a sudden, I just was like, ‘This is amazing.’ I’m doing whatever the hell I wanna do, and it’s a great feeling.”

She was happy to report at the reunion that the twins were adjusting finely and holding 4.0 averages.

“They’re doing their thing,” said the proud mom. “I have no complaints with them.”
