Candiace Dillard Bassett’s son, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, is only four months old, but he is already reaching some major milestones. The Real Housewives of Potomac alum and her husband, Chris Bassett, welcomed their first child together in early October 2024, and they’re now marveling at how much he’s grown since his birth.
Candiace recently took to her Instagram Story, where she posted a super sweet selfie with Jett, taken in a full length mirror in her Maryland house. In the photo, Candiace can be seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, black leggings, and burnt orange beret over her long hair. The new mom is already an expert at multi-tasking, as she held Jett, who wore a neutral outfit, on her hip with one hand, while she snapped a photo of the both of them together with her phone in the other.
Not only is this super impressive, but it also marks a major milestone — Jett is now big enough to sit on her hip. “My baby is finally big enough for me to carry him on my hip,” she wrote over the photo, along with a face holding back tears emoji.

Candiace Dillard Bassett’s opens up on being a new mom
This update on Jett’s growth is just another one of the many that Candiace has shared about him.
During a December appearance on FOX 5’s Motivation with Melissa, she revealed that she is just in awe of her baby. “It’s not real yet, and I can’t get anything done, because I will just hold him all day and night and just stare at him, just in awe of like, ‘Where did you come from? How are you here?'” she admitted. “It’s so strange in the greatest way.”
Why Candiace Dillard Bassett isn’t sharing photos of her son’s face just yet
And while she is still covering Jett’s face with emojis (like a brown heart emoji in the photo above), Candiace explained her reasoning behind this decision. “It just feels so special to have him all to ourselves, but in the same vein, I know [there are] so many people that rooted for us and are excited for us and are excited at the prospect of us having a child, that I knew I wanted to share with the world that he’s here…but I’m also aware of how interesting the world can be, and how scary the world can be. And I want to keep him safe for as long as I can. And protect him for as long as I can,” she said, noting that her Instagram followers will “see him soon.”
