Is Liverpool About to Land the Next Toni Kroos?

As transfer speculation heats up, the future of VfB Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller continues to ignite excitement among football fans. Notably, Premier League champions Liverpool are reportedly keen on securing the talented midfielder's signature. Stiller, who's been dubbed the 'next Toni Kroos' due to his style and composure on the pitch, has become a focal point of interest amid the transfer buzz.

During an interview with Transfermarkt.de, VfB Stuttgart chairman Alexander Wehrle confirmed that Stiller recently renewed his contract until 2028, solidifying his position at the club despite the interest from top European teams. Importantly, this contract does not include an exit clause that could facilitate a move this summer, although a clause becomes available in 2026. This means any potential suitor for Stiller, including Liverpool, would need to negotiate directly with Stuttgart.

Rumour has it that Stuttgart is eyeing a club-record transfer fee of €60 million (£51 million) for the 24-year-old midfielder. While Liverpool has spent this amount before, they are not known for frequently breaking the bank. This scenario sets the stage for a potential showdown, as Stuttgart stands firm on their asking price—a figure they have yet to receive from any club, emphasizing how critical Stiller has become for their plans.

Stiller's market value has soared to €38 million as of March, and he is now considered the most valuable player in the Stuttgart squad. The midfielder's performance has consistently placed him amongst the top percentile in key statistical categories in Bundesliga play, indicating that opportunities for growth are still to come as he matures into his role.

Stuttgart's decision to retain Stiller, who is not only a promising talent but also a four-time German national team player, reflects a strategic approach. German national coach Julian Nagelsmann has highlighted Stiller's potential as a replacement for the retired Kroos, noting that his playing style and maturity make him a suitable candidate for future international competitions.

However, the road to signing Stiller could be complicated by the potential arrival of other clubs, notably Bayern Munich, where Stiller began his career. His roots in Munich and the connection to Bayern could pose an additional challenge for Liverpool should they want to strike a deal.

Undoubtedly, Stiller's link to Liverpool raises questions about how his arrival could reshape the squad. With Trent Alexander-Arnold departing to Real Madrid, Jurgen Klopp is keen to inject fresh talent into an evolving team, and Stiller fits this vision perfectly. He embodies the attributes that Klopp typically seeks in a midfielder—composure under pressure, tactical intelligence, and a knack for transforming defence into attack.

As the summer transfer window approaches, fans are left eager for updates on whether Liverpool can secure their top target in Stiller. Will he become the new cornerstone in Klopp’s midfield? Or could Bayern flex their muscle in the race to bring back a former academy player? The next few weeks promise to be thrilling, and for many supporters, the stakes couldn't be higher.
