The Real Housewives of Potomac reunion recently aired, and it has fans talking. Many of the ladies were in the proverbial hot seat, but much of the public dialogue surrounds the short video message Karen Huger sent in. Notably, many feel that it was typical Karen behavior — lack of accountability, failure to read the room, and she decided to thank the ladies for their support but sadly left out Wendy Osefo.
As everyone knows, Karen was found guilty in December for charges related to her accident in March of 2024. This wasn’t her first DUI, and her body cam footage showed the world that the Grand Dame might have a real problem. However, she didn’t decide to check herself into rebab until after the guilty verdict, which meant she had to skip the reunion. She will be sentenced on February 26 and now has a new legal team.
The RHOP reunion has been teased for several weeks now, and the first part did not disappoint. One of the highlights came when Karen opened up about her legal issues during the first two minutes of the reunion as she denied being an alcoholic.
“No, I’m not an alcoholic, let’s be clear,” said Karen in the clip, which was filmed just 12 hours after her guilty verdict.
Karen then went on to address her fans. “I know a lot of young children look up to me, call me Auntie Karen, the Grand Dame. Do as I say, not as I do.”
When it comes to her not-so-shocking guilty verdict, Karen admitted, “My heart dropped.” She added, “It’s just very frightening, but I accept full responsibility for everything that went on with my car accident. I don’t care about me right now. I care about my children, I care about my family. They are so hurt.”
Later on during the RHOP reunion, they showed Karen’s second video message where she explained why she couldn’t be in attendance. When the video begins, she can be seen wearing white and sitting on a couch of the same color.
She begins by saying, “Okay, ladies, as you notice, I’m not there. I’m going away to a treatment center to address taking antidepressants and drinking.”
Karen continues, “I want to get to the bottom of it, but I would be remiss if I didn’t take this time to thank those who truly touched my heart through this whole process. And the first person I want to thank in the girl group is Gizelle, and I think what’s really helped me, Gizelle, is the note you put in my flowers. One step at a time. You make me very proud of our friendship outside of this show. You’re the real deal.”
From there, Karen says, “I want to thank my girl, K. K, you came through, and you always said that ‘Karen’s gonna handle this.’ I’m handling it, K.”
She then says, “Jassi, you sent me special notes, that really touched my heart. And I know that Candiace is not with us anymore on the show, but Candiace reached out to me and has been a soldier. But wait a minute — there’s a special person on my list: Andy Cohen. Your notes meant the world to me. They were always on time. You and Gizelle can fight over who called me the Grand Dame first, but I plan to be coming back as Karen Huger only cause Karen is enough.”
The troubled RHOP star continues, “Ladies, I’m sure you’re going to do me proud and look fabulous at the reunion, but nobody sit in my seat, okay? Love you.”

Saying that her fellow castmates had mixed reactions to Karen’s message would be the understatement of the year. For starters, Mia Thorton clearly disagreed with much of what Karen had to say, especially when she blamed her issues on taking antidepressants while drinking. Ashley Darby expressed similar sentiments about Karen.
However, Wendy’s reaction to not being thanked was extremely telling. Wendy has been one of the “soldiers for Karen Huger,” and it seems she finally realized that Karen was never really her friend.
Of course, the fans also had quite a bit to say in the comments.
One fan said, “Sounds like she’s accepting an award.” Another commented, “Wendy was visibly hurt that she wasn’t mentioned.”
Someone else agreed and replied, “I genuinely don’t understand why she treats Wendy that way. And Wendy legit always rides for Karen and tries to connect with her.”
