Rebecca Minkoff will reportedly be left out of the lineup when it comes to the cast of the potential 16th season of The Real Housewives of New York City.
Days after Erin Lichy‘s husband, Abraham “Abe” Lichy, expressed doubt about Rebecca’s return on the Deux U podcast, an insider has come forward, claiming that producers have opted against bringing the season 15 “friend” back because she’s simply too “boring.”
“Word on the street [is Rebecca] will not be returning,” an insider told OK! Magazine on February 3, noting that the reason was that she is “relatively boring.”
As RHONY fans will recall, Rebecca was brought to the cast by Erin, 37.
“Becky Minkoff is a friend, but she’s also a major fashion designer,” she told Ubah Hassan, 41, on an early episode of season 15. “She’s awesome. She’s such a sweetheart.”
The source went on to say that aside from Ubah’s heated feud with Brynn Whitfield, 39, on the finale, which saw Brynn accusing Ubah of using her past sexual assault against her by suggesting she slept with men for work, the season was “boring.”
“If it hadn’t been, the women probably wouldn’t have been as laser-focused on Brynn’s comment,” they noted. “No one really had any story about their lives or anything personal, so clinging to Brynn claiming she told Ubah she was sexually assaulted, only to change it to it ‘may not have clocked,’ implying she may not have heard her, gave them an in for drama.”
News of Rebecca’s potential exit comes just days after Erin confirmed they’re no longer in touch — and that Rebecca is living primarily in Florida.
“She and I don’t even speak anymore. You’ll see at the reunion,” Erin teased on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. “[And] she doesn’t live [in New York]. Not fully. Her kids go to school, I think, in Florida. In Tampa.”
As for what Rebecca has said about a possible return, she addressed a second season during an “Ask Me Anything” session last month.
“We will see, lots of things to consider,” she said. “But dressing up was super fun.”
