Dorinda Medley questioned why she was fired from the Real Housewives of New York, and she seemingly suggested that the recent finale was worse than anything she did. The alum also addressed if she thinks original castmates will eventually return.
After season 12, Dorinda was fired amid reports that she was too difficult to work with. Many fans complained that she was cruel to co-stars who didn’t deserve it, including Tinsley Mortimer. The cast was later rebooted with completely new stars.
In the recent finale, Brynn Whitfield asserted that she told castmate Ubah Hassan about her past sexual assault. When Ubah claimed she didn’t know, Brynn allegedly admitted that she wasn’t sure if Ubah “clock[ed]” what she was saying. Her castmates then insinuated that Brynn intentionally lied about the Ubah conversation.
“I did watch the New York finale,” said Dorinda on the Two Ts In A Pod podcast. “When I see stuff like that, all I can say is… and you can put it on my gravestone: Why did I get fired?”
The hosts then seemed to suggest that the finale was worse than anything Dorinda did on the show.
Host Tamra Judge expressed, “Well, I think they need to bring you back. You know, keep some girls, bring some of the originals back to New York.”
“I don’t think they would do that,” admitted Dorinda.
“Do you think … they should have named [the show] something else with the recast?” asked Tamra.
Dorinda nodded, adding, “The crown was too heavy.”
Earlier this month, Dorinda reflected on her time on the show.
“The praise is easy, the takedown is hard. No one teaches you. It’s like being pregnant. No one really tells you that you’re going to get spots all over your belly button or that you’re going to do this or strange things are going to happen. You’re like, what’s going on?” she said on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. “It’s all a big secret, and then you kind of have to go through that learning curve. Of course … when you’re first on and you hear all the praise, you’re like, wait a second, I think I’m famous; I might just be somebody.”
“But then no one tells you that as they build you up the mountain, you always got to go back down the mountain,” she added. “And the down part is where you really have to buckle up.”
