Dolores Catania Hails Ozempic as a “Game Changer” and Shares Why She’s Not Ready to Quit

Dolores Catania has never been one to shy away from being open and honest about her health journey. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star has been candid about using Ozempic, a weight loss medication, and recently spoke about her struggles with menopause and how the medication has made a positive impact on her life.

In a recent interview with Hello!, Dolores Catania revealed that the symptoms of menopause have been “intolerable” for her, with hot flashes being one of the most difficult challenges. She shared, “Menopause is just so rough for women. I stayed away from [Hormone Replacement Therapy] until the symptoms started — the hot flashes drive me around the bend.” Dolores has now been exploring other treatments to manage her menopause symptoms, admitting that she’s still looking for something that works for everyone. She added, “So as of right now, I’m looking into a product that works for everyone. And when I do, I’ll let you know. Because some women can’t use HRT — It’s really unfair.”

For Dolores, it seems like menopause has been a tough journey, especially given that it’s a topic that wasn’t often discussed by the generation before hers. “The hot flashes are just intolerable,” she confessed. “The generation before us didn’t talk about it either, so I feel my generation is the pioneer for it.”

While menopause has been a challenge, Dolores Catania has also been very open about her use of Ozempic. In 2023, she made headlines when she revealed that she had used the medication, along with Mounjaro, to lose 20 pounds. She became one of the first public figures to openly discuss using the drug for weight loss, setting the stage for others to follow suit. Dolores shared, “I kind of think I broke the seal on being honest about it.”

For Dolores, Ozempic has been a “life changer.” She reflected on the benefits it has brought her, saying, “With Ozempic it has been a life changer for me and my boyfriend Paul, who lost 60 pounds.” However, she acknowledged that the side effects, like nausea, can be unpleasant. “You take a pill for that,” she explained, showing that she is no stranger to the realities of managing the treatment.

When it comes to the future of Ozempic in her routine, Dolores said that while she’s considering weaning off or lowering her dose, her doctors have reassured her that staying on it for the long term isn’t a major concern. “I personally like it, I know it’s time for me to wean myself off or go on a lower dose but doctors have said there’s not really anything wrong with staying on it. You must always go through a real doctor though who knows what they are doing. Research is everything,” she emphasized.
