Bravo Holds Off on RHONJ’s Return: Insider Reveals Why Season 14 Reunion Was Canceled and What’s Delaying the Show’s Comeback

According to a report, no promises have been made that the Real Housewives of New Jersey will return for another season. Meanwhile, a source shared insight into the network’s choice to cancel the season 14 reunion – and why they’re in no rush to bring the show back.

Throughout season 14, the cast was divided into two teams. Most costars pledged loyalty to either Teresa Giudice or her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga. Many fans have also called out Margaret Joseph for adding to the toxicity. What’s more, many castmates were accused of leaking information to social media accounts. After the season ended, reports surfaced that the show was put on ‘pause.’

“As far as RHONJ goes, there is no timeslot for 2025 for the show,” said an insider close to production, speaking to OK! Magazine. “There is also nothing scheduled for 2026. To be blunt, there is no show as things currently stand.”

According to the source, Bravo hasn’t made any concrete decisions: “The network has NOT promised RHONJ will be back or won’t be back.” The insider also addressed a recent report that only Melissa, Teresa, and Dolores Catania were asked to stay engaged with the network.

“The other women — Margaret Josephs, Danielle Cabral and Rachel Fuda — were not given retention notices, and, at this time, Bravo is not pursuing them for a spot on RHONJ or any other side projects,” said the source. “[They] weren’t technically fired, they just weren’t given the same ‘promise’ the other three were given to hold tight and see what happens … [but it] doesn’t mean any of the women will be back on RHONJ.”

“All the engagement letters are is the network asking them to not go elsewhere or do anything else right now,” the insider added.

In a separate report from OK! Magazine, an insider shared the alleged reason why the season 14 reunion was canceled.

“It was a conglomerate of all of the cast being so toxic behind the scenes that production was worried the fourth wall would be broken,” said a source. “Stuff would come out about the cast they didn’t necessarily want out there.”

The source noted that costars were adamant about who they wouldn’t film with.

“Margaret Josephs and Teresa Giudice wouldn’t film together,” said the insider. “And Margaret said she wouldn’t be in the same room with Teresa’s husband, Luis Ruelas. Teresa refused to film with Melissa and Joe Gorga, and Melissa refused to film with Teresa. It was a mess.”

According to the source, Bravo “lost it.”

“They felt like they didn’t need all of these headaches and aggravation,” the insider continued. “So, they pulled the plug on the reunion.”

“The reunion was slotted to be three episodes and, as is a well-known fact, the reunions always bring in the best ratings,” said the source. “Obviously, having to cancel their biggest episodes of the season is not a decision that was made lightly, as it was not good for the franchise and cost the network millions of dollars. The fact that this cast couldn’t even proceed with a reunion doesn’t give the network much faith in them and explains why they’re not in any rush to ‘bring back Jersey.’ They’re annoyed and are just leaving things in limbo for the time being with no timeline of when and if they’ll actually bring the show back.”

In June of last year, host Andy Cohen opened up about the network’s choice to scrap the reunion.

“When you see the finale, you’ll see,” he told Extra at the time. “I think the finale kind of is a finale and a reunion all in one … There’s a lot of speculation about casting for Jersey next season. No decisions have been made. We’re nowhere close to making any decisions.”
