Charlie Sheen’s Child Support Battle: When Did Denise Richards’ Daughters Stop Receiving Payments?

In June 2002, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen tied the knot. At the time, the duo said “I do” at Spin City creator Gary David Goldberg’s Brentwood, California estate. The guest list consisted of Martin Sheen, Heather Locklear, Angie Harmon, and Brooke Shields. In 2003, the couple announced they were expecting their first daughter, Sammi Sheen. In 2004, Charlie and Denise shared that they would be welcoming another daughter, Lola Sheen, into the family. Sadly, by 2005, the couple was not doing well, and the James Bond actor chose to file for divorce.

When did Charlie Sheen stop paying Denise Richards child support for their daughters?

In 2021, the court system ruled that Charlie had to pay “zero dollars per month” for his then 16 and 17-year-old daughters. Even though Denise shared that her youngest daughter still lived at home, she was afforded nothing. At the time, a source told People that Denise was “blindsided” by the ruling of the Los Angeles Court. The insider added, “Charlie filed two years ago and kept pushing the court date, so Denise was very surprised that it happened yesterday while she is out of town filming. She was blindsided. Now he’s manipulating the situation.”

Their tumultuous divorce played out in the headlines during the early 2000s. The insider added, “Lola does not live with Charlie. She lives with both of her parents and stays with Charlie when Denise is out of town. When Denise is back, Lola will be with her. This is very disappointing for Denise but also not surprising. Charlie is pitting the girls against their mother, which is horrible.” The ruling came after Sammi alleged via TikTok that she moved in with her dad after feeling trapped. “Denise loves Sami very much and Sami loves her. Denise is very saddened by the entire situation. She’s a mother who wants to protect her kids,” added the source.

Denise Richards accused ex-husband Charlie Sheen of owing her a large sum of child support

In 2019, Denise alleged that Charlie owed her over $450,000 in back child support payments. It was again reported that Denise filed an income and expense declaration on Aug. 21, 2019. She alleged that Charlie “squandered over $24,000,000 from the sale in his interest in Two and a Half Men to pay his personal debts and to support his extravagant lifestyle at the expense of support payments for his children. During the time frame since our last stipulation/order in 2016, he has failed to pay $450,000 in support while diverting over $600,000 in assets to adult family members and converting thousands of dollars into cash for his own personal use.”

Naturally, Charlie denied the allegations and went on to call Denise a “coward.” In a statement, he noted, “D and her legal posse traffic only in fiction. My day in court is painfully overdue. She is behaving like a coward, and the truth will prevail.” Denise stood firm in her allegations, noting, “I was never bitter about my divorce. Going through everything, it changed me. But I love life and I’m a glass-half-full kind of person. And I did my best to rise above.”

Did Charlie Sheen’s move against ex-wife Denise Richards push her to new reality show?

According to The Sun, the decision to move against his ex-wife came from her large paycheck as a star on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Since her time as a Bravoleb, Denise has remained at the center of pop culture. A source close to the mother of three shared that “The only reason she’s doing the reality show is the same reason she’s doing her Only Fans – she needs the money.” The friend added, “She never in a million years thought Charlie would file to stop paying child support, and she was blindsided when the court ruled against her. Then Bravo let her go from RHOBH, and suddenly all her biggest incomes were off the table.”

For Denise, the last few years have been a whirlwind when it comes to earned income. The source added, “She still acts and gets money from smaller projects, but it’s nowhere near what she was making five-plus years ago. She’s been more cash-strapped, and she probably wouldn’t have even done the show if she was in a better place financially. Denise only filmed it for the paycheck.” At least Denise is happy with the series as she is thrilled to “control her own narrative.” She no longer needs to rely on Charlie and can take care of her family on her own.
