Heartbreaking Moment: Porsha Williams Speaks Out as Estranged Husband is Detained by ICE

Porsha Williams from The Real Housewives of Atlanta has not had an easy journey since she announced her divorce from Simon Guobadia. Their divorce has not been easy, and now it will become more difficult as it was revealed that Simon had been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Simon is currently at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, where he is being listed as in “ICE custody.” In response, Porsha Williams released a statement on her Instagram about the situation, saying, “It’s disheartening to see my estranged husband make choices that have led to this outcome. At this moment, my priority is moving forward with my family.”

Simon has become one of the many people to have been going through detainment ever since President Donald Trump stepped into office and signed a mass deportation plan in which illegal immigrants may risk being deported. Even though he is being held in custody, this is not the first time that Simon has been detained ever since he came to the United States from Nigeria. With his detainment it brings up the question of how his divorce from Porsha would move forward, as they were going through a toxic divorce in which he tried to get her to not film in their home for The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Simon’s Detainment

Porsha Williams has not had an easy journey in the love department since being a part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but it seemed she would finally get her happily ever after since her marriage to Simon Guabadia. The couple met back in 2021 and got engaged that same year. Viewers will know Simon from being married to Falynn Pina, who used to be one of Porsha’s costars on RHOA. Regardless of him being with one of her costars before, they still went forward with their wedding in 2022. It seemed she had reached her dream, but in 2024 she announced that she and Simon would be getting divorced and things started to go downhill, especially now for Simon.

Throughout 2024, the couple went back and forth against each other and Simon even tried to get her not to film in their home, even though the show is a source of income for Porsha. Simon may need to control the amount of trolling he does against Porsha since it was revealed on February 21, that he had been detained by ICE for overstaying his work VISA. This became the third time he has been detained since, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2. It shows he was detained in 1985 and was arrested in 1987 for bank and credit card fraud, which got him deported once more. It is unknown what will happen to Simon since he is currently in custody, but his divorce from Porsha is moving forward. The Real Housewives of Atlanta is streaming now on Peacock.
