Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks threatened to walk off the stage at the season 5 reunion after an argument between herself and Angie Katsanevas seemed to not be going anywhere.
There was a disagreement regarding Angie’s husband Shawn Trujillo’s remarks about Meredith’s son Brooks’ sexuality during a podcast appearance.
“Robert from Houston said, ‘Meredith, why did you expect an apology from Shawn when you did leverage Brooks’ sexuality so you wouldn’t receive further scrutiny for the false allegations you made about Shawn?’” Andy Cohen asked while reading a fan’s question during part 2 of the RHOSLC season 5 reunion on Wednesday, January 29.
Meredith, 53, shot back, “Well, that would be impossible because I didn’t make the allegations. Does anyone here know the definition of ‘leverage?’ To use to maximum advantage.”
The mom of three then reread Shawn’s answer from the podcast when he said that he “thought [Meredith] tried to leverage [Brooks’ sexuality] as a way out and a pivot for her.” However, Angie, 50, was adamant that Shawn’s answer was taken out of context and asked for Andy, 56, to play the question from the host of “Beyond the Velvet Rope,” David Yontef, and Andy obliged.
“Meredith said in this most or second-most recent episode, ‘You know, my son is gay. You know, I’m on the board of GLAAD. You know I would never out someone’s sexuality like that.’ Is that another roundabout, not good defense?” David said in the recording. “She’s using that to say, ‘Why am I being blamed for this? I would never out someone’s sexuality.’ Not that there’s sexuality to even out.”
Andy pointed out that David’s question was “very leading” and added, “This seems like a huge waste of time, and I’m sorry.”
RHOSLC’s Meredith Threatens to Walk Off Reunion Amid Angie Argument
The reunion host’s comment didn’t sit well with Meredith and she replied, “OK, Andy, you may think it’s a huge waste of time,” before Andy cut in and said that it sounded like David “led him into a thing.”
“Don’t take the bait then!” Meredith snapped. “Or just say, ‘I shouldn’t have said that.’”
However, Shawn added that when he recorded the podcast, he was fending off rumors that he had extramarital affairs with men and he was under the impression that Meredith and former cast member Monica Garcia were behind those rumors. Meredith claimed that Monica had told Angie multiple times that Meredith had nothing to do with the rumors, but as Angie tried to explain her side of the story, Meredith became tired of the conversation.
“I’m getting angry,” the RHOSLC star said as she stood up. “In fact, I think I’m finished. I’m done. The whole reason I came here was not for this. This is a load of s–t.”
Andy pleaded with Meredith to stay and said that they had “established” that she was not behind the rumors and Angie was simply explaining why they initially believed that she did because Monica had told a different story to each woman.
“Unless I know you’re going to play the audio at Aprés Ski when Monica very clearly says, ‘Meredith didn’t say it. I did,’ – unless I hear that, and I’m being told it will play at the reunion, I am finished,” the Meredith Marks Caviar founder ranted.
Andy eventually managed to calm Meredith down by telling her he had been agreeing with her the entire time, and she ultimately stayed for the rest of the episode.
