RHOSLC Season 5 Premiere: Breaking the Fourth Wall & Exposing Secrets!

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is back for Season 5 and kicking things off with a very special cold open. Instead of giving us a recap of all that our favorite Utah ‘Wives have been up to since Season 4 ended in January, Season 5 of RHOSLC begins with a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like to be, as Melissa Gorga would say, on display.

In a preview of the Sept. 18 premiere, one by one, we watch Heather Gay, Whitney Rose, Meredith Marks, Angie Katsanevas, and Lisa Barlow sit down to film their Season 5 confessional interviews, get mic’d up, and stare intently at the camera. (We even see the comfy leggings they paired with their fancy interview tops — a fourth wall break if there ever was one.)

“You know, signing up to be a part of a television show, every part of your life is exposed. We let people into our world, into our homes, every day,” says Heather in a voiceover as the camera pans to a normal day inside her house. “We choose to share what most try to hide, and then we wait for the world’s opinion.”

Next, Heather’s fellow cast members take control of the narrative.

“We tell our deepest, darkest secrets,” Whitney says.

“We share our marriages: the good and the bad,” adds Angie, while Meredith says that “we make mistakes and have to live with them.”

Lisa’s addition? “And the people we hold the most sacred are on display.”

“So when the world pushes back, we pull together,” adds Heather as clips of the women enjoying each other’s company play onscreen.

“It’s a bond and a friendship you can’t explain,” Angie states.

“But sometimes, that circle of trust turns on you,” Whitney says ominously.

Cue the b-roll footage of upcoming drama from this season of RHOSLCThen, back in the interview chair, Heather explains that when the women disappoint each other, they try to go back to where they started, remembering what connects them and praying it won’t happen again.

But can they really do that? Tune in to the RHOSLC Season 5 premiere tonight, Sept. 18, at at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.

Andy Cohen weighs in on the RHOSLC Season 5 premiere breaking the fourth wall

We’re not the only ones that have been so ready for Season 5 of RHOSLC to kick off. During an appearance on Jeff Lewis Live the week before the premiere, Andy Cohen explained what made that cold opening so special.

“It’s very good, and the first episode starts with such a bang, and they do something that I don’t think has been done on a Housewives show before, which is the first full episode is the first full all-cast event,” he explained. “And so much happens.”

“This feels very — from the jump — ‘Oh, wow, they’re off to the races,'” he added. “It’s very good. I can’t wait. Yeah, it’s really good.”

And if that wasn’t enough for you (it never is!), remember: new episodes of RHOSLC air on Wednesdays at 9/8c. Stream episodes the next day on Peacock.
