Former Made in Chelsea star, Louise Thompson, has spoken out on how she “thought she was dying” while she underwent a C-section. She describes the day her son was born as the “best and worst”.
Louise Thompson wishes she had been put to sleep before she welcomed her son, Leo, into the world. She was awake for three hours on an operating table while doctors worked to give her a C-section.

Louise was ‘poster girl’ for home birth
Louise recalls how she was the “poster girl” for home birth, which she was repeatedly offered as she was “low risk”, despite having never considered welcoming her child anywhere but the hospital.
She “worked out five times a day” and had featured on the cover of Women’s Health, but her health took a turn on November 15, 2021, when Louise gave birth to her son, Leo, now two.
“I call it the best and worst day of my life. There were a lot of things that went wrong. I wanted to have a C-section because I think you know your body,” Louise said on Great Company with Jamie Laing podcast.
MIC star questioned if she was alive
Louise recalls how she “felt every shaky hand, tools, the facial expressions, seeing the blood splatter everywhere all over the floor, and seeing her partner [Ryan Libbey] sat next to her.”
She opened up how she’d turn to him every 15 seconds to ask if she was still alive. “Really witnessing what I believed was dying without any reassurance because everybody’s busy,” Louise explained.
Thompson added how she wishes she was put to sleep during the procedure, and said, “That was weird because I think being awake for that has contributed to my PTSD.”

Fire broke out in home month before
One month before Louise’s due date, she woke up during the night to the fire alarm ringing. It wasn’t long until she couldn’t see her own hand because the smoke was so thick throughout the house.
Immediately worrying about how the smoke would harm her unborn baby, Louise ran out of the house screaming for neighbors to help, recognizing how her partner, mum and dogs were still inside.
That was the first time Louise ever went to the hospital, who had already been suffering with “bad anxiety” having had a miscarriage, following the fire caused by a wine cellar exploding in the basement.
