Sonjа Morgаn Breаks Sіlence After NYC Townhouѕe Sаle

Sonja Morgan’s well-known Upper East Side NYC townhouse was finally sold at auction for $4.45 million yesterday. She had been trying to offload it for about a decade.

The sale was bittersweet for many fans of the Real Housewives of New York. Throughout Sonja’s tenure on the show, her home was prominently featured and was the venue for many instances of her characteristic eccentricity and comic relief.

Sonja announced her auction plans last month. The townhouse ended up selling for much less than the $9.1 million she and her ex-husband paid for it. However, she seems pretty optimistic about the next phase of her life. Now that “Sonja with a sexy J” will be on her way, she gave a statement providing more insight into why it was time to finally let go.

Sonja: “It’s time to do me”

Last night, Sonja posted a video on Instagram of her already moving her furniture into storage. She also shared her feelings about moving on from her long-beloved home with Page Six.

In a statement, Sonja expressed her hopes for the next owner, as well as her readiness to move on as an empty nester. She and her ex-husband John Adams Morgan bought the home in 1998. She stayed after the 2006 divorce and raised Quincy Morgan there. Quincy graduated college last year and now lives in Los Angeles.

Sonja’s statement began, “This cherished home has been the heart of memories for our family for decades. Now, as we move forward, it is time for someone else to build their own memories here, just as we did. I know now was the time for this beautiful townhouse on the Upper East Side to embark on its next chapter.”

She shared her next moves. “I’ll always be a New Yorker at heart, but to be able to travel with my Sonja In Your City Improv Comedy tour freely without having to rent out our home is a weight lifted off my shoulders. It facilitates my creativity towards my other important endeavors as well. Wherever I go, I go.”

Sonja concluded, “I’ve been a dedicated Mother providing stability and financial support at my daughter’s childhood home. Now it’s time to do me like so many other empty nesters.”

We can’t wait to see what kind of fun trouble “the straw that stirs the drink” gets into next!
