Vicki Gunvalson’s Near-Death Health Scare: Kelly Dodd Shares Emotional Call With Mike, Shannon Beador Responds

Vicki Gunvalson revealed she almost died last week after a medical emergency, and Kelly Dodd shared that she received a phone call from Vicki’s boyfriend Mike Smith amid the scare. Plus, Shannon Beador reacted.

The Real Housewives of Orange County alum has been off the show for several years, but she’s continued to film in various capacities. Vicki, 62, has been in a relationship with Mike since 2022.

After a medical emergency last week, a neurologist told Vicki that she had a “10 to 20 percent survival” rate.

Vicki was told: “‘The sepsis that went to your body is deadly, and you survived it. So you’re gonna be okay. It’s just gonna take a while.’”

“So my energy level is super low,” said Vicki on her new podcast, My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast. “Michael has been incredible. He’s giving me my medicines cause I can’t remember when I’m taking them. And I’m sleeping enough, probably too much, but I can’t get the energy to walk right now … It mimics like a stroke.”

“I just have a blank three days,” she said. “It’s like somebody just swooped them off the calendar.”

Michael then reflected on what happened after Vicki was initially “sent … home.”

“I’m working on a project in Scottsdale so I took the first flight back,” he recalled. “One of the scariest things for me was when I walked in … she’s in the bathtub with water, and I walk in and she’s pretty much passed out. So I grabbed her … pulled her out of the water.”

“The doctor said she just needed to sleep, so I put her in bed, and she slept literally 13, 14 hours straight,” he went on. “When I [woke her up] … She had this kind of look on her face like she didn’t know where she was.”

In an Instagram post, her friend Kelly addressed the call she got from Mike after it happened.

“I knew @vickigunvalson almost died because Mike Smith called me and said she almost died,” wrote Kelly. “Sorry @michaelsmith0522 [he] told me not to say anything!! So I didn’t say anything to anybody!! See I can keep a secret!”

“I spoke to my friend @vickigunvalson and she is surviving!” she went on. “I love you Vicki and I wish you a speedy recovery.”

Shannon Beador also offered her support.

“Love you my friend! ❤️ You are one of the strongest women that I know and you are going to continue to get stronger every day!” said Shannon on Instagram, sharing a photo of her and Vicki. “Nothing can knock you down! You are always in my prayers! I love you mi Aries Amiga!”
