Season 18 of The Real Housewives of Orange County is getting pretty intense over silly rumors about Heather Dubrow calling the paparazzi. Now, she’s addressing how Tamra Judge participated in gossip about her and how it made her feel to watch the scene. She also explains how she accidentally tagged Katie Ginella in her Instagram post despite not following her.
As fans know, rumors about Heather calling the paparazzi and staging pictures have plagued her for a while now. Last season, it was rumored that they did this to divert cheating allegations against her husband Dr. Terry Dubrow. As Katie explained, she had heard of these rumors through social media before she was even on the show. This caused Heather to shade Katie by comparing her to a past cast member.
The most recent RHOC episode included Katie telling the ladies at their girls’ night that she had it on good authority that Heather calls the paparazzi when she goes places. She even said that she had proof but did not show it. However, what really bothered Heather was how Tamra took in the gossip without defending her.
Tamra even referenced the past when Heather was accused of the same. While talking to US Weekly, Heather had this to say, “It devastated me. I shed some tears that night.”
She continues, “I understood when the girls were all at the bar that at first they were laughing and carrying on about it because they were told this information in a very salacious way. I kept thinking, ‘Why is no one asking to see proof? Why is no one vetting this information, and why is everyone so gleefully enjoying this?’”
Heather is willing to eventually forgive Tamra because she reached out. However, she says Emily Simpson has not said anything about gossiping about her.
“She texted me and was very apologetic. Tamra and I have been friends for a long time. I am very upset about all of that. But that’s something we’re going to just have to figure out. And that doesn’t mean we’re not friends anymore. It doesn’t mean I’m mad. It means I’m upset.”
She continues, “Who wants to hang out with people that want your demise? It’s like schadenfreude on steroids. I’m not that person. I want my friends to succeed. I want everyone to be happy and move forward in their life. It didn’t feel good, and I didn’t think it was funny.”
Regarding the ladies taking Katie’s word, Heather says, “Even after this situation with Katie, I never said anything to the girls. [I never said] ‘How could you be friends with her?’ I very much went, ‘You all do your thing. You make your own decisions. That’s just not a friendship that I am choosing to pursue. I’ll always be polite. I’ll always be appropriate. But she taught me who she is.”
Heather also talked to US Weekly about accidentally tagging Katie in an Instagram post. She says, “It was just an accident. I had looked Katie up on social because Gina had talked about her and I knew that she might be coming on the show. There was another girl who they were talking to about coming on the show. I looked her up as well, but I [didn’t] take a deep dive.”
She goes on, “My social media person was putting my birthday post [together], and what I’m assuming happened is she was tagging my dress, my hair, my whatever, and I was wearing a Givenchy dress. And the [way it’s spelled], I’m sure Ginella popped up, and she just hit it.”
During the interview, Heather brought up how Katie had admitted to having previously texted the wrong person because they had the same name.
She explains, “I get it. It’s OK. You see how it happens? But she didn’t see how those things were comparable. What was also strange to me with the tagging thing was obviously it was a mistake. It was a picture of me by myself. But was it offensive? Yeah, no. I mean, I would think someone would be happy if they got tagged because then people might look them up, follow them. You’re welcome, by the way. Won’t make that mistake again.”
