Garcelle Beauvais Ended Things with Will Smith Over Jada Pinkett Smith’s Surprising Comment

Since joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in season 10, Garcelle Beauvais has given viewers some sort of drama “balance” on the show. In a recent Reddit poll, 61% of fans voted “yes” on her likability, with fans citing that she’s “not delusional” like the other housewives. At the same time, many people think it’s what makes her a snooze fest. But while she’s not on the same level as Erika Jayne’s embezzlement scandal, Beauvais has shared some interesting Hollywood tea on the show, like her fling with Will Smith , which she spilled in front of the actor’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino.

The first Mrs. Smith made her debut as a housewife friend in season 12. She appeared in a group hangout with Beauvais’ non-show friends where the revelation came out. At that time, fans assumed Smith had cheated with the Coming to America alum while he was still married to Zampino. But as it turned out, Beauvais dumped the actor after finding out about his now-estranged wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Zampino later set the record straight on the whole thing, including the possibility of joining the main cast, like season 14 newcomer Jennifer Tilly—who’s previously made cameos as Sutton Stracke’s friend.

Eddie Murphy’s joke about Will Smith’s Oscars slap sparked rumors of a feud between the two.

Garcelle Beauvais Dumped Will Smith After His Son With Sheree Zampino Mistook Beauvais For Jada Pinkett Smith

In her 2022 memoir, Love Me As I Am, Beauvais recalled why she quickly ended her relationship with Smith back in 1990. “I remember one day calling Will, and he was in the car, and his son [Trey Smith] and Sheree (pictured above on the left side) were in the back,” wrote the Haitian-American actress. “So you know, he picked up the car or Bluetooth or whatever it was back in the day, or speakerphone—what it was—he said, ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ and I said, ‘I’m great.'”

She then heard Smith’s firstborn in the background, saying, “[Is that] Miss Jada on the phone?” The actress said, “That’s when I was like okay – I’m not the only one. Exit stage left.”

Beauvais and Smith previously co-starred in Wild Wild West (1999). Before reminding fans about their romantic past on RHOBH in 2022, the former already stirred some controversy when she posted a photo of her kissing scene with the Oscar winner in a 2018 birthday tribute. Even The Real—which Beauvais co-hosted from 2020 to 2022—weighed in on the since-deleted tweet in this clip titled, “Is It Appropriate to Tweet This to a Married Man?”

Tamera Mowry read that commenter tweeted Beauvais, “You better take this down [before] Jada go on a Twitter rant,” to which the actress replied, “Bring it lol.” But soon after that exchange, the Black Girl Missing star took down the tweet and apologized for it. “Ok guys it was supposed to be a funny post. My bad if I offended anyone!” she wrote. “If you are my followers you know I’m all about lifting up people and being positive 🙏 being human I made a mistake … Have a beautiful blessed day.”

Adrienne Bailon-Houghton deemed Beauvais’ gesture inappropriate, saying she “couldn’t find the funny” in the supposed joke, Jeannie Mai agreed, saying that “the thing is when you’re dealing with a married man it’s not about wishing him a birthday, you got to think about what his wife is thinking.” Loni Love said Beauvais should’ve added the context of the photo as well—that it’s just an intimate scene from their past movie—because the younger then-Twitter users probably didn’t know about it.
