John Janssen Takes Aim at Shannon Beador’s Attempt to Dismiss His Fraud Claim in Facelift Lawsuit, Demands Punitive Damages

Shannon Beador’s legal battle with her ex-boyfriend John Janssen continues.

Janssen sued Beador, 60, back in March for $75k, claiming she borrowed the money for a facelift but never paid back the loan.

In the latest update to the lawsuit, In Touch has reported on the latest legal back-and-forth between Janssen and Beador’s lawyers – with the businessman hitting back against her attempts to dismiss his request for punitive damages, attorney fees, and his claim of promissory fraud.

It began first with Beador’s lawyers seeking to drop Janssen’s allegations of fraud against the RHOC star and his request for punitive damages.

Her legal team believe Janssen did not bring forward sufficient evidence to warrant the fraud allegations and was therefore not entitled to the money.

But in court documents Janssen’s lawyers claim: ‘Mr. Janssen’s request for punitive damages is warranted by the facts and claims alleged in the [complaint], which sufficiently allege malice and fraud by alleging that [Shannon] acted with the intent to induce Mr. Janssen to rely on her misrepresentations to defraud Mr. Janssen into loaning money to Defendant that she never intended to repay.’

‘[Shannon’s] fraudulent intent is further evidenced by her continued assurances to Mr. Janssen that she would repay the loans, and her recent attempt to characterize the loans — for the very first time — as “gifts” that she is not required to repay.’

His lawyers also claim he had brought forward enough evidence to prove his claim of fraud. A ruling has yet to be made by judge.

In a previous response, Janssen’s lawyer also hit back against Beador’s description of the loan he allegedly gave her.

‘[Shannon] knew when she made her false promises and representations that [Shannon] did not intend to pay for such services. Despite promising to repay both Loans, [Shannon’s] subsequent actions have made clear that [Shannon’s] promises were fabricated, and she never intended to follow through on her promises.

‘For example, in an attempt to avoid her obligations to repay the Loans, [Shannon] now asserts that the Loans were a ‘gift’ from Mr. Janssen, which is completely false,’ his attorney said.

Beador dated the businessman from 2019 until their split in November 2022. However, the TV personality didn’t go public with the split until the start of the following year.

According to documents obtained by People, Janssen filed the lawsuit back in March at the Orange County Superior Court.

Janssen sued Beador back in March for $75k, claiming she borrowed the money for a facelift but never paid back the loan

He accused Shannon of allegedly breaching their oral contract as well as promissory fraud due to not repaying him.

John claimed that in January 2022, he loaned her $40,000 for a facelift which was sent by a wire transfer. And in May 2023, he sent her a personal check for $35,000.

In the court documents, he further claimed that both he and Beador agreed that she would pay him back the sum with interest.

However, Janssen alleged that after asking for the repayment in 2023 and also this year, the reality star has yet to do so.

Along with the full $75k, the Real Housewives star’s ex is also requesting that she pay accrued costs and interest, as well as his attorney’s fees.

After the lawsuit came to light, Shannon released a statement to People to give her response. ‘I am shocked and disappointed that John has a filed a lawsuit.’

‘My attorney has been in constant communication with his counsel. I agreed to pay John what he wanted because I knew that attorneys fees would surpass the amount sought, but more importantly to eliminate the negative emotional components that come with a lawsuit.’

‘It is important that I continue to focus on the positive aspects of my life and move forward.’

Beador added, ‘John declined the offer because he refused to sign a mutual non-disparagement agreement.’

After the lawsuit came to light, Shannon released a statement to People on Friday to give her response. ‘I am shocked and disappointed that John has a filed a lawsuit’

‘I was hoping that if I met his baseless demand we could at least use this as an opportunity to bring complete closure to this chapter in my life.’

John’s own council also released a statement and shot down Shannon’s claim that the $75k had been a ‘gift’ from Janssen.

Edson K. McClellan, Rutan & Tucker LLP, informed People, ‘Ms. Beador’s defense that Mr. Janssen paid her the $75,000 as a “gift” is completely meritless, which their e-mails and text messages will show.’

‘Mr. Janssen is saddened that Ms. Beador’s unwillingness to repay the loans made it necessary to file this lawsuit.’

Following Shannon and John’s split in late 2022, Janssen has since moved on and struck up a romance with RHOC alum, Alexis Bellino.
